Planning a ride

On the Plan tab, choose how you want to ride: Distance or Time for a scenic loop of the length you pick, A → B to route to a destination, or Quick to just leave and see where the road goes. Use the twistiness dial to say how curvy you like it, and add via-points to route past a favourite corner.

Recording a ride and background location

Start a ride and Dwaal records your track, distance and pace. It keeps recording with your screen locked or the app in the background, which is why it asks for "Always" location access. If a recording stops unexpectedly, check that Dwaal has Always location permission and that Low Power Mode isn't limiting background activity.

Sharing your location with friends

Live location is off until you turn it on. When enabled, the friends you've approved can see where you are while you ride. You can switch it off at any time, and stopping a ride stops sharing.

Navigation and rerouting

Dwaal shows a single line to follow, bright ahead of you, faded behind. If you miss a turn, it redraws a route back onto your path (or on to the next point if you're far off). When you finish, you'll see the ride you actually rode, and you can rate the roads so the best routes rise up for everyone.

Your account and data

Edit your name, username, photo, motorcycles and other details on your profile. You can delete individual rides, routes and comments in the app. To delete your entire account and its data, email support@dwaal.eu. See our Privacy Policy for how we handle your data.
